Bribery and the Art of Embarrassment
Therefore when I did wake up at 2.30am and realised my faux pas, I grabbed the nearest piece of scrap paper and scrawled him a lewdly written IOU. Thinking it would at least put a smile on his face when he woke up.
Yes it seemed like a good idea at 2.30 in the morning. So I ring him today to ask if he likes his note, to learn he very nearly gave it to my MOTHER!!! How does this happen you may ask, well I had mistakenly written it on the back of print out I had made of her work information (that was in the shredding pile). Thankfully though he flipped to the other side and realised his mistake before it was too late.
While I squirmed in embarrassment on the floor at the idea of my mother nearly having read that IOU, Phil pointed out that HE would have been the one to hand it to her, and therefore it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to think it was from him to my poor mother.
Now can you just imagine the conversation that would have ensued between my Dad and dear husband with that misunderstanding!!!! It boggles the mind, and has left me giggling all day long...
Well until the next time I inadvertently try to wreak a bit of destruction...

Working Title - Guarding Angels - Chapter 1
“Oh God, my head! Did someone get the number of that bus?” Avery muttered as she tried to open her eyes. Last nights couple of drinks with the girls had turned into a couple more and then a couple more after that, with a vague memory of inappropriate dancing and then… Nothing... Well that’s never a good sign, she thought to herself.
She finally pried her mascara encrusted eyes open, and quickly slammed them shut again, as piercing white light nearly blinded her and set the jackhammers from a dull roar, to a Pamplona style stampede. Where the hell am I? Instead of her tired old apartment, she seemed to have woken up in an enormous white room, on the Sun, if the pure white light that had scorched her retinas was any indication.
She slowly cracked her eyes open again, trying to find clues to her whereabouts. On second glance it wasn’t a room, just pure white as far as the eye could see. “Shit did someone slip something in my drink, and now I’m freaking out in some kind of bland ass Wonderland.”
She turned her head and hit her nose on a small locked box, its blackness shocking against the stark white landscape. “Curiouser and curiouser.” She quoted Alice snidely, as she rolled over and turned the key.
Inside the darkness stood a crystal goblet of red liquid that shimmered incandescently with an otherworldly glow. A breeze suddenly swirled around her carrying a hundred whispering voices. “It’s Clarity!”
“Drink it”
“It’s Destiny.”
“It holds the answer.”
“Yeah, I’m more of a white wine girl, and never been a fan of hair of the dog. Now if it was Tylenol and some water you’d have me sold.”
The wind picked up tearing at her, the voices booming in her ears. “Okay time for this little freak show to end,” she pinched at her arms and legs, even slapped herself across the face, “wake up! Wake up! WAKE UP!” When that failed she stood up, and whimpered as she kicked off her brand new Jimmy Choos, loathe to leave behind shoes that cost more then her rent.
She muttered, “Run Forest Run” as she took off as fast as her legs would carry her, and she ran and ran and then ran some more, until her body collapsed, exhausted, her limbs shook, her lungs burned, and the sound of her pumping blood screamed through her ears. Yet the voices were still there, and that damn box sat beside her again, mocking her. “FINE!” she screamed grabbing the goblet; she gulped the contents down in a single mouthful. As soon as the liquid passed her throat, her whole body burned like it was engulfed in flames. A blood curdling scream was ripped from her, as every feeling she had ever had or caused another to have bombarded her, every good time and bad, every hurt intentional or not screamed through her body like acid, just as she thought the agony had started to recede the pain, fear and sorrow of every living creature cascaded through her Soul. Falling forward she curled herself into a ball and thrashed while her body seemed to come apart a molecule at a time. After what seemed like a lifetime of agony and despair, a white light burst from her limp body, wrenching her off the floor. Then it felt like the flesh was ripped from her back as enormous white wings exploded from her shoulder blades.
Then everything seemed to suddenly dim, and Avery was left panting on her hands and knees, the soft downy feathers of the heavy wings brushing gently against her face, like the soothing hand of a mother.
“You have been chosen Avery. Welcome to the Guardianship.” A beautiful melodious voice whispered across her tortured flesh. She looked up into the strikingly blue eyes of the handsomest man she had ever seen.
“What?” her brain having obviously overloaded and gone home.
“You have been chosen as a Guardian. It is a very big honour to have bestowed upon you.”
Avery looked from her wings and back to his, as it suddenly clicked. “I’m a Guardian Angel?” He nodded, his gentle smile lighting up his whole face.
“Well, crap on toast!”

Backhanded Compliments
Surfing around my new favourite blog, The League of Reluctant Adults I discovered a writing competition to write a REALLY short story in under 250 words, which in some way relates to a picture of a goblet of red wine... Always looking for excuses to write I had a little think... and Naomi my latest character, a newly recruited Guardian Angel, with an expensive shoe fetish and attitude problem was born. However under 250 words has never really been my forte, so I decided not to sweat the word count and just go with it. So I finish it up and try to make it as tight as possible, as you may have noticed I'm prone to be over verbose and flowery. Then I send it off to Phil & Nicki for their opinions. Now I haven't heard back from Nick yet, but she is working in
Phil however asked me with disbelief in his voice if I wrote it, as it sounds nothing like me. And I quote "it actually sounds really good!" Now for about 3 seconds I'm caught in the afterglow of that really good part until the backhand slaps me upside the head... So if I'm translating correctly, it doesn't sound like anything I've ever written before because... it is really good!! HOW OFFENSIVE is that.... But I've decided to cut him some slack, as he is sick as a dog, poor baby.... And as he pointed out the only thing of mine he has read before was some extremely bad fanfic from a very very long time ago, that I'm embarrassed to own up to, due to it pretty much being pure porn. And in Phil's opinion sounded like it was written by a "horny 12 year old". NOW COME ON! I let the last back hand slide, but that was a full frontal assault... And all within about 10 mins. But then on the other hand, it was really really bad (I'm hoping due to the fact that it was written in my teen years, with nothing other than imagination to back it up, and not the fact that I'm lousy at writing love scenes). Let’s just say if I had any dreams to become an erotic novelist, they would have been pushed dramatically to the back burner after that comment.
Anyway I have decided to overlook the backhanded slap, and focus on the fact that at least my husband (who is legally obligated to love me, I might add) likes my writing or at least that particular story. Yay me!!

Astrology 101
Been reading Tate Halloway's Garnet Lacey Series and the main character is very into astrology, so have decided to have a look at my own "natal' chart. This is just the free sun interpretation... But how much does it sound like me... Spooky....

Sun in Pisces
As the last sign of the zodiac, you are in conflict with yourself, as your symbol suggests--two fish locked in tension, forever pulling each other in opposite directions. This can represent the personality tied to the soul, and indeed one seems to be swallowing the other. Your motto is either serve, or suffer. And if you lean more toward the spiritual side, your rewards are huge, for you are the most sensitive and psychic sign in the horoscope.
You are friendly, charitable, self-sacrificing, and kind--with a natural intuition that works endlessly on behalf of others. Your fault is you have a difficulty in facing reality, so that many times you seem to deceive others, taking the path of least resistance instead of telling the terrible truth. Your rose-colored glasses may flatter others, but they also can lead you to tell lies. You can also be impressionable or gullible, and need to focus and channel your imaginations creatively. You, of all others, are the poet of the zodiac--please use that creative energy to its best expression.
You need a career that helps others, and have a talent for caring. Though you are not good at organization, you often work selflessly in the background, even though you may be attracted to acting where you can conceal your true personality behind the role. You make exceptional counselors, since you are so aware of the suffering of others. Other careers include a religious vocation, professional musicians, doctors, designing clothes--or doing two jobs at once, in keeping with your dual sign. In business, you make powerful administrators because you are so in tune with others' feelings. You need variety, but are not overly ambitious. You don't relish change--it brings about confusion and apprehension. You're not good at it, and your imagination works overtime, worrying.
Your inner self is always preparing to retreat from the world. You need to always try to seek a balance between your two sides, and to restrain your strong and deep emotions that cause moodiness, introspection, and a difficulty in expressing to others. When your need to escape from the world, to be alone, leads you to the source--the river of life--it can lead to great accomplishments. When you meet up with drugs, alcohol, or other substitutes, you become the prey for others. Watch out for your deep sense of pride which may keep you addicted for many years.
On the negative side, you may suffer from an inferiority complex, and a sense of unworthiness that can be self-indulged and wallowed in. You may try to lose this sense of separateness by resigning and being submissive to whatever you are involved in--love, lust, work, or pleasure. You must guard against this, and realize that your only true freedom comes through spiritual orientation. When you do this, you will become the true saviors and servants of mankind. With a great sense of compassion, you can sacrifice yourself for the betterment of the world.
More than anything, Pisces needs to explore his or her world through the emotions. You feel things deeply, and can become psychic easily, absorbing emotions around you. You need to choose your friends carefully, to guard against bad vibes. Your creativity and imagination makes you lean towards the arts, theater and film, whether as a career or a hobby. You need to make time to be alone, so you can detach from others' emotions and concentrate on that solitude and life force within. This will make you less moody and less impressionable, and will help you from suffering indecisiveness. This also can develop your mystical tendencies and spiritual side.
You flourish in a stable love relationship, as this fills you emotionally. A woman Pisces is mysterious, complex and compassionate. She is all feeling, with a quiet strength and inner depth that doesn't like to be limited or restricted in expression. She doesn't like dogma, and needs companionship--yet craves solitude. She can have a weakness for drugs or alcohol if imbalanced, but if she is evolved, she can excel in art, literature or music. She has a mystical channel that is very spiritual, if she is in tune with it, and has an almost psychic connection to children.
The Pisces man exudes quiet strength. He is self-contained, a good listener, giving his full attention like any good friend. He can be a sucker for a sob story. A true romantic, he likes candlelight dinners, intimate conversation, and, once smitten, his emotions run deep and eternal. He usually enjoys the arts, and may work behind the scenes at a local theater. His task is to balance his inner and outer worlds, and to keep up his responsibilities.
Pisces is a water sign, and is usually compatible with other water signs. A Scorpio might overpower a Pisces, but a Cancer might be too clingy. A Capricorn might be too limited and grounded, but a Taurus could fit right in. A Gemini, because it's mutable, may also be compatible.
In romance, for Pisces inner feelings such as love are experienced as more real than the outside world. Romance can become almost a form of transcendence, a source of wisdom that can penetrate larger mysteries and questions of life. The partner of a Pisces is many times introduced to a new level of consciousness and awareness because the Pisces is such a dreamer and connected with the spiritual world. His mystical ways excel in art, literature, drama, and can also make him a monk, mystic or inventor. Famous Pisces were Albert Einstein and psychic Edgar Cayce.
A Pisces is typically less concerned about money, and more interested in enjoying what he does to make a living. She is happiest when transcending herself through work, or when her tremendous compassion finds an outlet. Whether a boy or a girl, a Pisces is born with a deep intuitive sense, even if it is hidden somewhere. This gives them the potential to connect to a higher power, and also gives them the sense of wanting to express this connection, whether as part of an organized religion or an alternative community.
The challenge for the Pisces is to stay connected, to balance their two extremes seen in the picture of the two fish swimming in opposite directions, and to guard against becoming an aimless wanderer, a voyager, an introvert mired in depression, or an addict. With a sensitive nervous system, they many times react strongly to small doses of food or medications. They must also think carefully about who they can trust.
Their boundaries are thin, and they live best when they are connected to Jung's "collective unconscious," when he or she can retrieve from the spiritual world what has been lost, and bring it back to the surface for others to gaze at. Ruled by Neptune and Jupiter, a Pisces is steeped in dreams, visions, the imagination, and illusions. They have a need to get away for awhile and meditate before rejoining society, and find it difficult living in the present, preferring to live in the past or the future. Their challenge is to find some kind of way to express themselves without becoming addicted or a part of some kind of self-sabotage. They also need to find a way to fit in, without being co-dependent or a martyr. They need to find compassion without self-sacrifice.
Pisces rules the feet, which gives them good grounding, and a connection to earth. Sometimes they may get out of their depths, or lose control, and may need a more practical partner such as a Virgo to help get them back. Their challenge is to fully embrace the mystery or mystic sides of experience, while remaining a compassionate human being. As a water sign, and as a fish, they clean all the toxicity and poison out of other people with their gills, needing only solitude to clean themselves.
Sun in the Ninth House
This house is associated with long journeys, eclecticism, research, studying, and the ever-present quest for knowledge and spirituality. The Sun here emphasizes these areas, thus making the individual a good candidate for research, publishing, teaching, PR, storytelling, the clergy, and law or philosophy. Too much Sun here can turn people into condescending bigots or know-it-alls who fail to listen to others. However, because you are attracted to foreign cultures and countries, you tend to be broad-minded rather than narrow-minded, and you enjoy not only travelling, but may live in a foreign country that interests you. You may even find more success abroad. Your primary urge is to understand, and people in religious fields often have this position of the Sun. This house is ruled by Sagittarius and the planet Jupiter, thus the energy of the superconscious is ever-present. This energy gives you deeply ingrained religious beliefs, knowledge, intuition, and inspirations. You may take long journeys to expand the mind, whether physically or both mentally and spiritually. This could also transcend to psychic experiences. You may also have a gift for languages, dream interpretation, and anything to do with the subconscious mind. The material world does not interest you near as much as intellectual growth, the broadening of horizons, and dreaming. Your challenge is to make sure at least one foot is grounded in reality, so that your dreams don't become too abstract and carry you away. Higher education is common here, and the often idealistic and philosophical outlook gained from much introspection needs to be tempered by some kind of practical knowledge found elsewhere in the birth chart.
Sun square Ascendant
You may have difficulty in dealing with partners, whether a business partner or a spouse. You may try to dominate others and are conflicted about how to present your true self--you don't seem to know how to do this. This can cause problems for those closest to you because no one will really be able to understand you when you give out mixed signals. Perhaps you need to get in touch with who you really are.
Sun conjunct Midheaven
Your career is very important to you, and you exert influence through it and through your personal reputation. You may be attracted to public life or politics, and may even gain some kind of fame and have impact on masses of people.
Sun square Neptune
Your biggest danger here is self-delusion, and though you are likely gifted with some kind of mystical ability you need to guard against feelings of grandeur that could lead you astray. You are probably gullible and need to avoid cults of any type. Seek instead to cultivate your left brain and its reasoning ability, for a clear mind can steer you out of any problems you may have from cloudy emotions. Deception is all too common with this aspect, and whether you have a tendency to let others deceive you or you deceive yourself depends on other elements in your chart. Strive to achieve balance and realize you may like to wear rose-colored glasses at times; take them off slowly and take on the responsibility you tend to run away from.
You may have frequent love affairs and get involved with scandals. If you are a woman, you are particularly vulnerable to attracting men who cause you pain and sacrifice, and possibly disillusionment.
Sun trine Uranus
You are probably a "different" type of thinker, yet are still a leader who can tap into creative powers. You like to think of yourself as progressive or original, and others are attracted to your ability to make things happen through your own ingenuity. Because your perception of reality is so broad, you are strongly intuitive with a grasp of the profound and a deep appreciation for mystic insights or cosmic consciousness. You draw people to you--they want to know you because you are so different, yet you never get too emotionally involved.
